 UNDERRATED ARTISTS: DABEULL

It was the year 2018; nothing about that day seemed to be different from any other I spent at the restaurant where I had been employed for a few months, except that Spotify playlist, which was regularly broadcast during lunch, that took me by surprise with a new song. The dance piece was catchy, captivating and, at the same time, colored with funky and chilled vibes. Finding myself humming the chorus over and over again, I decided to find out who was the creator of that song, entitled “Don't Forget It”, that I liked so much: Dabeull. 

Dabeull is a French DJ who unfortunately has not received the media success of other compatriots such as Bob Sinclair or David Guetta. Why? I have listened to all of Dabeull's mixtapes and albums and I can assure you that, qualitatively speaking, he has nothing to envy his colleagues. Do you know what differentiates Dabeull from other artists? He is not as commercial as the DJs who have reached the mainstream scene, and his collaborations do not include names in mass music culture such as Kelly Rowland, Sia or Rihanna. It's really a shame, because Dabeull is really a great artist who knows how to mix a bubbly personality with funky music that sounds very current but, at the same time, conquers the nostalgic of the seventies sounds (and I'm one of those people!). Furthermore, I would like to underline my admiration for artists, such as Dabeull, who choose to collaborate with other singers and instrumentalists over time, relying more on the success of a piece than on the media potential of the guest artists. Holy Brune is the voice we often hear between the notes of Dabeull, and it is always a guarantee of success with her elegant and delicate tones. Dabeull is very skilled at mixing sounds from the past, but also at creating original songs. Among my favorite mixtapes I absolutely have to mention “Da.Fonk” and “Da.Fonk2”, and among the albums I would like to mention “Intimate Fonk”.
