UNDERRATED ARTISTS: ALFA MIST

UNDERRATED ARTISTS: ALFA MIST

Today, Thursday April 22nd 2021, on a sweet night of spring when everything felt like any other day, I had the pleasure of watching the live premiere of Bring Backs by Alfa Mista, an artist I started following quite recently, streaming from the Metropolis Studios in London. Thanks to the fucked up YouTube algorithm pushing and highlighting videos I couldn't care less and not notifying me about my subscriptions, I missed the first nine minutes of the show. When I finally decided that it was time to read some Nietzsche to the notes of Jazz music, I suddenly thought of the pianist that already pleasantly intrigued me with albums such as Antiphon, On My Ones and Structuralism and looked up his page for some good vibes. I then stumbled on the video and gave all my attention to carefully listening to the sounds. The fusion of Jazz and Hip Hop is delicately mixed and present in this latest work as well. The live performance lasted for about 50 minutes enriched by the beautiful sounds of keys, guitar, sax, clarinet, drums, percussion, bass, violins, viola, cello all exquisitely blended together in a little masterpiece that amazed me, also due to the young age of the musicians and the guest singer. Considering how deeply I love music, I feel like thanking them for enhancing music's artistic side through their passion, knowledge, elegance, respect and talent. You may ask, why would I be talking about "respect"? I do because nowadays it's becoming really rare to witness artists composing and dedicating their life to music for something that goes beyond the financial aspect of the business, artists who show their devotion to one of the highest expressions of art. I thank all of them for giving the public so much beauty, and I feel bitter about listeners idolizing the "bearers of trash" who don't deserve to be a part of the music industry, instead of rewarding real talents. Alfa Mist collects a little over nine thousand views and not even two thousand likes, while Cardi B or Lil Nas X take home MILLIONS!? Recording labels and marketing managers definitely play a big role in determining what is trending on the mainstream platforms, and for this reason I thank Anti for producing and publishing Alfa Mist's album. I invite you all to check the performance out, that's currently still available on YouTube, and to support artists who treat music with professionalism and dignity. Many thanks, Martina.
